Hamilton was recognized as an honorary citizen of Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city and host to the Interlagos circuit, on October 9, 2019. Bruno Covas, the city’s mayor, bestowed the honor upon him in acknowledgment of his contributions to motorsports and his passion for Brazil. Hamilton was given a medal and a certificate of honorary citizenship during the ceremony at Sao Paulo City Hall.
