Two brothers reaching the top of their respective divisions in boxing is not quite rare as one might think. Klitschko brothers reigned supreme at the heavyweight division, and even today, the Charlo brothers have taken the boxing world by storm. Not too far behind, are the Moloney brothers, Andrew and Jason Moloney, who continue to cement their position in the world of boxing.
“It’s great to have a twin brother that obviously has the same passion. We are both professional boxers,” says Andrew Moloney.
Moloney brothers are quite competitive and needless to say, their biggest challenge has been but each other. The Moloney brothers hail from Australia and have been by each other’s side for as long as they can remember. Boxing as a sport started as a hobby for the twin brothers, who were more inclined towards football growing up in Victoria, Australia.

“Me and Andrew, we had a pair of gloves. I forgot who gave them to us. We would just throw them on and fight it out in the lounge room. And we loved it,” says Jason.
However, the love for football did not last very long, as both brothers switched full-time to the sport of boxing. They started boxing when they were just thirteen years old.
Moloney would go on to represent Australia in the 2010 and the 2014 Commonwealth Games, winning gold in the latter.
Meanwhile, Jason would go to turn professional after missing out on Australia’s squad for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Their father owned a building company, while their mother was a receptionist at a law firm. The Moloney brothers had a great upbringing and had parents who were supportive of their career choices.
Jason Moloney next fight:
Jason Moloney is coming off a horrific KO loss against Japan’s Naoya Inoue, in a failed to attempt to become the WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring bantamweight champion.
Jason Moloney (21-2) has failed to grab the world title on two occasions now, losing to Emmanual Rodriguez via split decision the first time around when he fought for the IBF bantamweight title back in October of 2018.
Andrew Moloney next fight:
Andrew Moloney is set to square off against Joshua Franco in a trilogy bout for the WBA (Regular) super-flyweight title. Andrew Moloney (21-1) will look to avenge the sole loss of his professional boxing career after dropping a unanimous decision loss to Joshua Franco back in June of 2020.
Moloney and Franco would go to face each other for the second time on November 14, 2020. However, the bout ended in a controversial draw, after an alleged headbutt caused a damaged eye to Franco, who was not able to continue at his best.
Andrew Moloney and Joshua Franco share the boxing ring for the third time on August 14, inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Oklahoma, US.
