The Rock originally known as Dwayne Johnson, has been one of the most celebrated superstars in WWE. Fans across the world have looked up to him as an inspiration. His charismatic persona and great in-ring abilities make the crowd go crazy in the arena.
Over the years, the superstar has been in the news for various reasons. But in 2009, he made headlines for not-so-good reasons when, in an interview with MTV, Dwayne admitted the fact that he once used steroids as a teenager.
In the interview, he said, “I tried it. Me and my buddies tried it back in the day when I was 18 or 19. Didn’t know what we were doing.” This was the time when Johnson played as a defensive lineman for the University of Miami Hurricanes.
He further added, “It’s not as prevalent today in our sports as it was 10 years ago. We recognize that, and now we have to institute stronger penalties, which we are doing. It’s a good example for kids to follow, not in terms of the use, but in terms of the repercussions of what can happen because there is no replacement for hard work.” He stressed the importance of hard work and said that there was no substitute for it.
