Cryptocurrency doesn’t have a spotless record when it comes to public image. The influx of stories of people losing thousands and often millions of their hard-earned money ruined its public reputation. Speaking of spotless records, Khabib Nurmagomedov seemingly launched his own crypto venture in collaboration with the GMT project.
On his Twitter page, he wrote, “Do you want to enter a closed community and get the chance to meet with me? The new crypto product that I am creating in collaboration with the GMT project will be your pass. I’ll tell you all the details soon: https://gmt.io.” Below the caption was a black-and-white picture of The Eagle himself.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is only the latest in a long line of celebrity crypto ventures. As cryptocurrency boomed, many celebrities decided to capitalize on the opportunity and make a quick buck. Although the most notorious of these is Logan Paul’s Cryptozoo scam, which was exposed by CoffeeZilla.
Despite his enthusiasm, the undefeated UFC legend was met with extreme backlash from his fans on Twitter. They pointed out that this crypto project was against his religion. Additionally, many also believed that Nurmagomedov had been hacked and that he would never promote such a scam. However, details about this are murky at best.
Fans react to Khabib Nurmagomedov announcing a Crypto Project
Many fans seemed a little ticked off at Khabib Nurmagomedov’s announcement on Twitter. They lamented over the frequency of UFC fighters promoting scams, clearly unhappy with it. These fans called out Khabib’s hypocrisy in being against sports betting but promoting a crypto scam. One fan even said, “Crypto is Haram, brather”

On the other hand, some fans were in denial about the announcement. They believed the undefeated lightweight had been hacked. However, these people were all merely looking for some confirmation, unsure whether he had really been hacked.
He has been hacked I think.. This doesn't sound like Khabib. Don't fall for this.

Many users managed to find the funny side in this as they made jokes at The Eagle’s expense. After all, it is funny that a man who was unbeaten in the octagon was felled by such a scam.

Although it is unclear whether Khabib was hacked or not, without any official confirmation of a security breach, things have to be taken at face value. As such, Khabib Nurmagomedov will probably continue to receive backlash from fans until something changes.
