Tyson Fury, the reigning WBC heavyweight champion, is set to come out of retirement against Derek Chisora. He will defend the title on December 3rd, in the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The London arena is expected to be a full house as one of the best, if not the best, heavyweight fighters will return to action.
It will be the 3rd meeting between the two behemoth fighters. The first time they met, was in 2011. Fury had an unbeaten record of 14-0 at the time. Chisora also had the same record heading into that fight.
Although Derek has lost many times in his career, Fury was the very first fighter to hand him a loss. The bout went the distance and The Gypsy King picked up the unanimous decision win and won the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles.
Their second meeting was in 2014 when Chisora had a record of 20-4 and Fury’s record was 22-0. For that fight, the WBO international, European, and British heavyweight titles were on the line. That time, Fury did not need the full 12 rounds and the bout ended after 10 rounds to hand Fury the 23rd win of his pro career. They will meet once again this weekend for the third time in their respective careers.
The height, reach, and weight difference between Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora
Tyson Fury is one of the biggest competitors in terms of size, in boxing. Although Deontay Wilder has an impressive physique, Fury towered over The Bronze Bomber. So how does his height compare against his next opponent Derek Chisora? According to BoxRec, Chisora himself stands at 6’1 and a half inches. He also has a reach of 74′ or 188cm.
On the other hand, Tyson Fury has a frame of 6’9. Fury’s reach is also very impressive, at 85′ or 216 cm. So it is quite evident that similar to their last two bouts, Chisora will have a hard time dealing with Fury’s impressive height and reach advantage. In his last fight, Fury weighed in at 264lbs. However, he weighed in at 277lbs for his trilogy bout against Deontay Wilder on October 9th, 2021.
Derek Chisora weighed in at 258 lbs for his last fight in July this year. So judging by the difference between their last weigh-ins, there should not be a monumental weight advantage for the WBC champ.
