Terence Crawford has once again implied that Canelo Alvarez is avoiding facing him in the ring. A super-fight between Alvarez and Crawford is firmly being eyed by the latter, however, the Mexican boxer believes that the Crawford fight makes no sense.
It was reported that Alvarez and Crawford would have to meet at Middleweight (160 lbs) but Alvarez believed they would not be able to take weight. However, in a resurfaced interview, he was happy to say the contrary for Errol Spence Jr.
After his convincing victory against Jermell Charlo, the undisputed super-middleweight (168 lbs) world champion was asked about a potential fight against Crawford. “I always say if a fight makes sense, why not?… But he’s not in the plan.”
However, in an interview with Fight Hub TV in 2020, he was asked about a potential fight against Spence. He said, via a translator, “Errol Spence is a big fighter and obviously, if he wants to go up in weight then that will be a big fight.”
Alvarez said he would come down to 160. “Middleweight, yeah, that is still something we could do. So, yeah we could go down to 160.”
Lol 🧏🏿♂️what’s y’all thoughts on @Canelo saying he can make a fight with Spence at 160 but for me he say I can’t make the weight. Wouldn’t make a difference just a thought.🤣 https://t.co/6ANMue9K73

Crawford retweeted the interview and wrote, “Lol what’s y’all thoughts on @Canelo saying he can make a fight with Spence at 160 but for me he say I can’t make the weight. Wouldn’t make a difference just a thought.”
The undisputed welterweight (147 lbs) world champion, Crawford, defeated Spence in his last fight. He dominated the fight and won via a ninth-round TKO.
Terence Crawford’s coach undermined the quality of Canelo Alvarez’s previous opponents
Alvarez appears to be far less eager than Crawford to face each other in a super-fight. However, Crawford’s coach, Bernie Davis, implied that it could be so because Alvarez does not fight big names.
In an appearance on ThaBoxingVoice, Davis said, “I was thinking about Canelo himself, which I give him a lot of praise and everything. But I was thinking, the only great fighter that he beat was GGG [Gennadiy Golovkin]. But I give him a lot of credit for the Austin Trout win. Cotto was past it…
“If you look at Bud’s resume, it’s dotted with good quality guys, you know that, it’s dotted with quality.”
Crawford’s latest tweet implies a similar notion. He believes Alvarez was willing to meet Spence, who was recently defeated by ‘Bud’ convincingly, but not Crawford himself.
