Stevenson wrote, “I’m officially retiring from the sport of boxing I’ll be in the gym forever perfecting my craft and helping the next generation become great and chase they dreams but I ain’t fw this weak boxing game.”

However, not many on the internet believed Stevenson’s retirement announcement. Fans commented with the cap emoji which indicates a lie. One fan wrote, “Quitter.”
Another fan claimed he did it because of the WBO Lightweight Championship fight. They wrote, “All bc [because] a 130 pounder fighting for a vacant belt? You soft. Let him win it and then unify bigger fight that way.”
Meanwhile, another fan advised Stevenson to stay off social media. They wrote, “Man you tripping maybe if you stay off social media and in the ring you won’t think like this shit disappointing hearing this off ya tongue coach Don would be mad ash !!!”

Over a week ago, Stevenson wrote on X, “Free Agent Season this year.” The New Jersey native has been signed to Top Rank since 2017. His latest contract is nearing its end and Stevenson was hoping to be approached by promoters.
Later, he claimed he was ready for the biggest fights this year. He wrote, “F*ck all the goofy shit this year let’s just make the biggest fights happen I’m available and ready if that’s what that side want.. However, he was triggered by the latest WBO Lightweight title announcement. Three-weight world champion Emanuel Navarrete and 2012 Olympic medalist Denys Berinchyk were set to fight for the vacant title. Stevenson wrote, “This is sickening.. Sh*t is Disgusting my n***a!”
A few minutes later, he claimed that he should might as well retire. And, in another post, a few minutes later, Stevenson announced his retirement from boxing where he went undefeated for 21 bouts.

‘Sugar’ started boxing at an early age and had a successful youth career. He won gold at the 2014 AIBA Youth World Championships and the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. He went on to win silver at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
