Professional boxer and social media influencer Ryan Garcia has dominated the headlines for quite some time now. However, the news surrounding the California native has not been the most positive recently. The 25-year-old set the internet ablaze with a few questionable videos. Garcia claimed that he had no access to his phone, bank accounts, and social media accounts.
The concerns arose even further after deleted X (Twitter) posts from the pugilist went on viral all over social media. In some of his controversial deleted posts, Garcia claimed that his life was in danger. However, Garcia later put out a video where he clarified that he did not suffer any physical harm and was fine. It made many fans question what really went on with Ryan and, in response to that, his father and ex-wife had contrasting statements.
Ryan Garcia’s ex-wife Drea Celina and father Henry Garcia have contrasting clarifications
Andrea Celina and Ryan Garcia have a long history together. Before their relationship, Ryan was involved with Catherine Priscilla Gamez. Gamez is also the mother of Gracia’s first child Rylie. However, they parted ways in 2019 after the birth of their daughter. After their breakup, Ryan started dating fitness trainer and influencer, Andrea Celina. Amid their marriage in 2021 and separation in 2023, the couple shared two children together.
According to Drea, her former husband does not seem fine amid all the chaos. On a social media post, Celina added that she was “genuinely concerned” about the boxer and she was apparently not the only one. As per the Mexican-Italian model, all of his family members were quite worried about Ryan too. However, his father, Henry Garcia had a different take on the matter.
The senior Garcia played down all the talks about Ryan potentially having a mental breakdown and being in any sort of physical danger.
Concern from the fans was understandable too as the boxer did not have a history of random outbursts on social media and that too on such sensitive and controversial subjects. But, Henry clarified that it was all a prank. He said, “Yes, Ryan is ok. He was just trolling the wrong way.”
UFC legend Chael Sonnen has his say on Ryan Garcia’s outbursts
Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen does not believe that Ryan Garcia’s words were a part of any prank. Sonnen, who is no stranger to controversy himself, kept his two cents on the matter during the latest appearance on the Valuetainment Podcast. The 46-year-old has been around fighters all his life thanks to his amateur wrestling background and MMA career.
Speaking on the strange behavior from Garcia, Sonnen said, “I’ll tell you what’s not (going on). He’s definitely not performing. He’s not an actor and he’s not trying to get eyeballs by looking crazy. There was something going on there. People have speculated the drug use. I’m not going off with that but this is not an act and I don’t know what.”
He further elaborated, “There is something happening there that’s at least concerning to a degree. Now, there’s also good news with Garcia which is he travels almost everywhere with his dad. You know his old man is with him and he shows up to press conferences. So I know that he’s being watched and I know some people that go to his church in Texas and I know that he does have a support system but I think it’s a little concerning.”
As for his professional career, Ryan Garcia is set to face Devin Haney on April 20. Although he defeated Oscar Duarte via KO in his last bout, Garcia’s reputation took a big hit after his TKO loss to Gervonta Davis in April 2023. So beating a fighter like Devin Haney, who is yet to taste a loss in his career, would bring KINGRY back in the mix of being one of the elite youngsters in the sport.
