MMA superstar Conor McGregor & star boxer Canelo Alvarez have been going back and forth for a while now. On May 2023, McGregor challenged Canelo to a boxing match this was followed by a social media back & forth. Recently, Conor McGregor shared a clip featuring Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez where he praised Floyd while roasting Canelo.
“One of the greatest performances in professional boxing this was. I landed more shots on Floyd than Canelo,” said ‘The Notorious One’ taking shots at the modern-day legend. Canelo Alvarez was quick to come back with a savage response. “I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches,” said Canelo.

These guys have been talking trash to each other for a while now. On May 2023, Conor said that since he is a southpaw just like John Ryder & Billy Joe Saunders who had close fights against Canelo. “I know he’s waning. I’d fight Canelo no f***in problem,” said Conor McGregor.
Canelo was quick to fire back, saying that he doesn’t pay much attention to what McGregor says and he will beat him with one hand on his back. Just like Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, this could be one of the biggest crossover fights of all time. However, it looks like Conor won’t be able to box for the same network as his fight against Mayweather.
Espinoza’s Showtime Sports to officially shut down by the end of the year
Paramount Global, the parent company handling Showtime Sports have confirmed their plans to shut down Showtime Sports as a department by the end of 2023. This is because the bigger plan of Paramount moving forward is to focus exclusively on scripted programs. Furthermore, up to 40 employees who were a part of Showtime Sports will be eliminated. One of them is the weasel himself, Stephen Espinoza.
Stephen Espinoza is the president of Showtime Sports but MMA fans know him as the guy who was roasted by Conor McGregor. In other words, he is the guy that McGregor called, ‘a f****n weasel’. In an interview before the official announcement, Espinoza said that people are jumping the gun about Showtime being shut down. “I’ve yet to read anything that was accurate in terms of what’s going on internally. So, the reality is the future has not been determined yet,” said Espinoza.
Furthermore, he said that they will continue doing what they have been doing until there is an official communication from Paramount. However, Paramount has now confirmed that they will no longer broadcast boxing.
