Tank Davis reveals the significance behind his Blessed tattoo
Gervonta Davis had a rough childhood. Because of his mother’s drug addiction, he spent his time in foster homes and got into several street fights. However, his fighting talent caught the eye of his uncle James Walker, who, with the aid of some financial help, bought him boxing gear and took him to coach Calvin Ford. It turned his life around and Gervonta took it as a blessing.
He added, “Even though I was in that gym fighting, I felt like I was getting the love I didn’t get at home, After school let out around 2:30, I’d go straight to the gym to be the first person there, even though it didn’t open until about 4:30. I was the littlest one and I was good, so they took me seriously. If it wasn’t for the gym, I would’ve been out in the neighborhood running wild, But most of the time, I was out of town at tournaments, because I was winning so much. I feel really blessed.” (h/t via BodyArtGuru)
Although the African-American fighter is thankful for the presence of boxing in his life, Davis also paid a tribute to his mother Kenya Brown with her initials KB and her birth year, 1973, tattoed across both of his arms.
