Arnold Schwarzenegger has undoubtedly outperformed himself with each different kind of career that he took up. From being the greatest bodybuilder to being the highest-paid actor, there is barely anything that he can’t do. He is renowned for putting his body through the most rigorous training and strict diets during his bodybuilding days. Furthermore, nothing changed when he debuted as an actor.
Notably, his first appearance in a movie was back in 1970. Schwarzenegger was a lead actor in ‘Hercules’, but someone else was dubbed for dialogue. Arguably, the most iconic movie that Schwarzenegger has been a part of was ‘The Terminator’. No one could have done a better job than him, and for this, he left no stone unturned when it came to training.
In his new book, ‘Be Useful: Seven Tools For Life’ which is expected to be released by October 24, 2023, Arnold recalls how he trained for the 1984 original. Schwarzenegger penned down, “On The Terminator’ it was becoming a machine: blindfolding myself until I could do every gun stunt with my eyes closed, and shooting so many rounds at the range that I no longer blinked when my gun fired”.
Even though his role ‘T-800’ did not require him to keep his eyes closed, The Terminator star trained with blindfolds to master the art. He did his role perfectly, and his training to not blink even when the gun fired resulted in the most real-like machine role. The first part of the movie series was so popular that its sequels kept getting filmed. The popularity of this could be attributed to Schwarzenegger and his training.
Arnold Schwarzenegger suffered multiple injuries on set during ‘The Terminator’ filming
Arnold Schwarzenegger also went into account how he prepared for ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, which is arguably the best action film. After the success of The Terminator 1, fans awaited to witness the bigger and better version of Schwarzenegger. He did not only stand on the expectation but, in fact, raised the bar too high for the newcomers.
In his book, Schwarzenegger revealed, “On Terminator 2, it was practicing the shotgun cocking flip so many times my knuckles bled for what amounted to two seconds of screen time. I didn’t complain”. It was hardly surprising for fans that he suffered an injury during the shooting and that he did not complain. For the level of dedication that he had, this was something that fans expected.
There have been countless times when he has sustained injuries on movie sets. One of the other significant ones was during the shooting of ‘Conan the Barbarian’. Schwarzenegger crawled through the rocks to the point that his forearms started to bleed out. Not only this, he was dragged into the thorns by wild dogs. That left him with an injury so bad that he had to go for 40 stitches.
The former politician evidently gives it all when it comes to performing. He is not afraid of getting injured on the way, as long as he can deliver the best performance. Anyone who has watched his movies would agree that each is no less than a masterpiece.
