One of the biggest stars in UFC history, Nate Diaz will make his Octagon return in the co-main event of UFC 262. This will be a historic bout as it’s the first non-title co-main event that’s booked for five rounds. The excitement among Diaz’s fans is at its peak as the Toyota Center is already sold out for UFC 262.
However, Nate Diaz might have made a mistake accepting the fight against Leon Edwards. Diaz has never backed down from any challenges. He has fought in multiple weight classes throughout his tenure in UFC. So he is not alien to fighting tough opponents in a weight class where he does not belong. But, Leon Edwards is one of the best welterweights in the world right now and it’s very likely that he will ruin the return of Nate Diaz at UFC 262.
UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns gave his prediction for Leon Edwards vs Nate Diaz in a recent interview with Helen Yee. Burns believes that Edwards will easily beat up Diaz inside the octagon.
“Bad matchup for him I think. Leon Edwards gonna beat him pretty easy. It’s going to be good for Leon. “

Leon Edwards fought Belal Muhammad after a 2 year-long layoff. However, the fight ended in a No Contest as Muhammad was not able to continue after an unintentional eye poke from Edwards. Before that fight, Edwards was scheduled to fight Tyron Woodley and Khamzat Chimaev. However, both the fights fell out due to unfortunate circumstances.
Edwards needs a big win desperately and a win over Nate Diaz can be huge for him. Though most of the fans will be rooting for Nate Diaz to put an end to Edwards’ winning streak Gilbert Burns is rooting for Leon Edwards. Burns continued:
“To be honest for that one I am puling for Leon Edwards. The guy is just having bad luck after bad luck. First, the lockdown, and the fight gets canceled, and then the eye poke. I hope nothing goes wrong, he comes to that fight and I believe he is gonna make a big name for him with a big win over Nate Diaz.”

Diaz has been away from the sport for a long time. He fought Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title in 2019. Masvidal dominated him during the entire fight and it’s very likely that Diaz will find himself in a similar situation against Leon Edwards.
