SUMMARY
- Luka Doncic and Sergio Ramos exchange jerseys ahead of Game 4 as Mavericks win their first finals game this series.
- Doncic claims Real Madrid will forever been imprinted on his basketball journey.
Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks have been on a tragic path ever since the start of the 2024 NBA Finals. The Boston Celtics managed to shake up the Mavericks with an early 3-0 lead. And historically, no team has ever been able to recover from a bad deficit like this. However, Doncic & Co. managed to escape a clean sweep in the finals, which last took place in 2018.
In a surprising turn of events, the Mavericks blew out the Celtics by 38 points. Throughout the series, the Celtics limited the Mavericks to under 100 points per game. However, tonight was a whole other story as Doncic erupted for 25 points in the first half. He became the third youngest player to ever score 25+ points in the first quarter of an NBA Finals game.
NBA fans react to Luka Doncic and Sergio Ramos swapping jerseys
Ahead of Game 4, Luka Doncic received some luck from a former Real Madrid associate, Sergio Ramos. Currently with Sevilla FC, Ramos played for Real Madrid from 2005 to 2021 before signing with Paris Saint-Germain. Ramos and Doncic met inside the tunnels and exchanged jerseys together. While Doncic gave him a few Mavericks jerseys, Ramos gave the basketball star a couple of jerseys including a pair of cleats.

The Mavericks guard will never forget his time with Real Madrid
It hasn’t been long since Luka Doncic stepped into the league but six years of watching him compete with the Mavericks makes it feel like we’ve had him on the floor for eternity. Doncic adapted very well to the NBA immediately after transitioning from playing European basketball.

“Once you play there for many years. And I won there. So it kind of stays with you… sometimes you just remember those beautiful moments when you win and what it means to win,” said Doncic regarding his tenure in Real Madrid. Doncic has become the face of the Mavericks’ franchise and it is projected to overtake Dirk Nowitzki and various other legends of the organization.
