The 1996 Super Nintendo Entertainment System game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was remade for the Nintendo Switch and released globally on November 17, 2023. It was first revealed at the 2023 June Nintendo Direct. With complete 3D visuals, this remake reimagines the original game while largely preserving the original character designs and sizes.
The Sunken Ship puzzle from Super Mario RPG is well-known. This is because players must finish six tasks to obtain hints. After they have them, they ought to be able to deduce the right passcode to unlock a door.
The dungeon’s lower decks are home to the Super Mario RPG Sunken Ship puzzles. When players arrive, they will notice a corridor lined with many chambers, each of which is guarded by an enemy that they must vanquish.
Skeletons, specters, and drifting jellyfish are among the mobs in here. Since The Thunderbolt ability deals a lot of damage to enemies in this location, therefore, players should have Mallow in their party.
Super Mario RPG Sunken Ship Puzzle
Upper Hallway
Super Mario RPG’s first three puzzles of the sunken ship can be found in the upper hallway of the lower decks. Here’s how players can solve them:
Sunken Ship Puzzle 1: Block Pillar
This corridor’s first puzzle area features a Koopa Paratroopa flying around a block pillar. In mid-air, players will also see a green switch. The objective is to go beneath the Koopa Paratroopa in order to cause the ball to inadvertently topple over and fall onto the switch. The first clue is in the memo from the intrepid Indigo: “There’s a ‘S’ in the word.”
Sunken Ship Puzzle 2: Springs
Three sideways-moving springs will be visible to players inside the second room, and they can stop them by hitting certain blocks. Starting from the leftmost block is the best option. Once the block reaches the halfway mark, players should jump and hit it.
After that, they must strike the other two blocks, being careful to leave ample space between them. A metal ball should bounce over all three springs and settle on the switch at the end if everything is done correctly. The second clue is in Indigo Jr.’s memo: “It is found on the bed of the ocean.”
Sunken Ship Puzzle 3: The 3D Maze
The Super Mario RPG Sunken Ship puzzle that most people find difficult is the 3D Maze. This is because of the room’s multi-block arrangement. Without being able to see their character, players must navigate this area. This is what is recommended:
- Through the small entrance, players must enter the 3D Maze and go to the back right. When they encounter an obstacle in the lower area, they need to jump.
- They can’t see Mario, but this should get them to the center section. Now they should jump to the left, which will take them out of the building.
- They must then proceed to the lower-right area and hop up on the ledge. While they are inside the structure they need to keep jumping and continue circling to the back.
- They need to step on the plate to get the next hint after they’ve reached the top.
The third clue is “It has two vowels” from the second expedition team’s memo.
Lower Hallway
The next three puzzles of the sunken ship will be found in the lower hallway of the lower decks.
Sunken Ship Puzzle 4: Coins
The first door on the left is where players must go once they reach the lower hallway. They will see a coin inside that when moves around the room, creates more coins. The objective is to follow it and collect the coins as they appear.
Since the new coins will likewise despawn, they shouldn’t take too long, and they shouldn’t accidentally pick up the original coin. To do this mission, they can pick up an initial coin when it reaches its end. the fourth clue is “It is very valuable” from the search party Onyx’s memo.
Sunken Ship Puzzle 5: Cannons
The players will notice four blocks in the next room. Here, the goal is to jump and hit the leftmost block to activate the cannon. After that, they should sequentially pass under the next three blocks, jumping when the cannonball passes beneath them. When they jump, it is ideal for them to stand beneath the block’s shadow.
If done correctly, the cannonball will collide with each block, giving them another clue. The fifth clue is “‘It’ is actually a ‘they'” from the fourth investigation crew’s memo.
Sunken Ship Puzzle 6: Barrel and Floor Panel
There are two floor plates and a save point in the room at the end of the hallway. Players must first jump on the barrel stack to the right in order to knock one of them down. To move it to the left, they must then jump on the ground-level barrel. To unlock the door, step on the other plate once the barrel is on it.
The next step is to figure out the Super Mario RPG’s Sunken Ship puzzle’s password. Six blocks with several letters will be visible to players in this room. In addition, the blocks have numbers one through six. This is what they should do:
- “PEARLS” is the password for the Sunken Ship.
- This implies that the players should step under the block with Key Letter 1. They then need to jump and hit it until the letter “P” gets selected.
- They then need to go to the block with Key Letter 2 and keep jumping until the letter “E” is highlighted.
- This needs to be repeated with the remaining blocks until they have formed the word “PEARLS.”
Once the players finish this they need to talk into the gadget to allow Mario to mention the password. This will open the door to the boss battle with King Calamari.
