SUMMARY
- NFL Prospect Xavier Worthy made history when he broke the world record for a 40-yard dash.
- As the 20-year-old achieved this massive feat comparisons between him and Usain Bolt began.
In arguably the greatest moment in the young career of Xavier Worthy, the Texas wide receiver has recently made history. Registering his name in history books, the 20-year-old has broken the record in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Ever since he achieved this feat, the youngster has been in the headlines.
Amid the kind of record he made at such a young age, fans have been looking towards him as the next big thing in the sports world. Alongside this, the NFL prospect’s record-breaking dash has also sparked comparisons between him and the legendary Usain Bolt.
As the 6-foot-1 athlete has recently been compared to the Olympic record-holder, a lot of people wonder if he’s really faster than Usain. So, without any further delay, let’s dive deep into a comparison between these two stars on the basis of real facts.
Xavier has been getting a lot of limelight due to the achievement he registered in the 40-yard dash, and what makes it even bigger is that his time is better than that of Bolt’s by 0.01 second. But, despite all this, saying that Worthy is faster than Bolt is not right, as it’s just misleading.
A major reason behind this is that the Jamaican star tried this when he was dressed in casuals and wasn’t even wearing any cleats. Even after being in such a state, Usain ended up tying the previous record, and it shows how well he would do if he tries it seriously. Thus, it’s safe to say that the wide receiver isn’t anywhere close to the iconic athlete yet.
How much time did Xavier Worthy take for the 40-yard dash?
The NFL prospect has been the talk of the town ever since breaking the world record for a 40-yard dash. But not many are aware of the amount of time Xavier Worthy took to complete the task and by what margin he surpassed the previous record holder of this historic feat.

In this regard, it must be noted that Xavier ran the distance in a phenomenal 4.21 seconds at the NFL Combine. By doing so, the Texas wide receiver broke the previous record that belonged to John Ross III, who achieved it in 2017 with 4.22 seconds. It shows how close this whole thing was, and also how historic the achievement really is.
Xavier Worthy’s college career stats
The 20-year-old athlete has grabbed global attention after making history at the NFL combine event. But even before this, he was a popular name among sports lovers due to his football career, as he played college football at Texas, earning all-conference honors in 2021 and 2023.
The wide receiver’s professional career began during his high school days, as he attended Central East High School in Fresno. During that time, he was selected to play in the All-American Bowl in 2021, but the game was not played due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After this, he committed to the University of Michigan to play college football but later changed to the University of Texas at Austin.
After entering college football, Worthy earned immediate playing time, as he had a fabulous freshman season in 2021. The kind of performances he gave can be estimated from the fact that he recorded 981 yards in the season and received 12 touchdowns. Both of these records were previously held by Roy Williams, as he did so in his 2000 freshman season.
Amid a historic start to his college career, Xavier was awarded true freshman All-American by Pro Football Focus, 247 Sports, and FWAA. In addition to this, he was also named in the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year 2021, 2× first-team All-Big 12 (2021, 2023), and Second-team All-Big 12 (2022), which are all great achievements.
