Whenever we talk about couples from the professional wrestling industry, especially WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are probably the first couple that comes to mind. Such is the aura of this duo that they are referred to as WWE’s official power couple.
Stephanie and Triple H’s love story started initially as a storyline, but it turned into real-life love. However, their journey wasn’t an easy one, and they had to face many obstacles in their relationship.
The couple’s biggest difficulty was that they weren’t initially sure whether they should date or not. So, to get rid of this confusion, “The Game,” Triple H went to “The Undertaker” to get his permission to date Stephanie McMahon. But why only The Undertaker?
The incident is from WWE’s Attitude Era, and The Phenom was the leader of the locker room during that time. Due to The Undertaker’s respect across the locker room and his role as the locker room leader, wrestlers used to take advice from him. This was the reason Triple H went to The Undertaker to ask for his permission to date, Stephanie.
Triple H asked The Undertaker about his take on whether dating Vince‘s daughter would be fine. Giving his suggestion on this, The Undertaker told Triple H about the consequences this decision may have. His most important advice was that if Triple H truly loves Stephanie, he shouldn’t really care about what people think. (Via: TheSportster)
Acting upon The Undertaker’s advice, Triple H listened to his heart and started dating Stephanie. This eventually led the couple to marriage, as they got married on October 25, 2003. After three years of their marriage, they welcomed their eldest daughter, Aurora Rose, in 2006. Their second daughter, Murphy Claire, was born in 2008, and their youngest daughter, Vaughn Evelyn, was born in 2010.
The Undertaker has a bizarre history with Stephanie McMahon
Being the locker room leader, The Undertaker gave a good suggestion to Triple H about dating Stephanie. However, The Phenom himself has a bizarre history with Stephanie McMahon due to a bizarre storyline from 1999.
In the 1999 dark storyline, The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness once abducted Stephanie McMahon during an episode of WWE RAW. She was first kidnapped, and then the clan carried Stephanie to the ring on a crucifix-style symbol. As they took her to the ring, the Deadman tried to marry her.
Even after so much planning, The Undertaker wasn’t successful in marrying Stephanie, as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, and The Big Show came to fight off the Undertaker’s group and free Stephanie McMahon. The storyline was really bizarre, and even The Undertaker once referred to it as the most bizarre storyline of his 30-year-long career.
Even after going through different phases throughout their personal and professional lives, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have been happily married for the last 20 years. Triple H currently serves as WWE’s Chief Content Officer, whereas his wife, Stephanie McMahon, resigned from her Co-CEO position in January 2022. It remains to be seen if we’ll ever get to see the couple together on WWE TV.
