Dave Meltzer is one of the most respected and hugely popular pro-wrestling journalists of all time. He may receive a lot of backlash for some of his comments on wrestlers, but one thing that wrestlers and other pro-wrestling journalists look forward to is the ratings he provides for each wrestling match. No matter if people like him or not, the star ratings from Dave Meltzer are respected. With WrestleMania 38 only days away, let’s take a look at the list of WrestleMania matches that received 5 Stars.
Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon – WrestleMania 10
This was a ladder match for the ‘Undisputed Intercontinental Title‘. This was the first-ever ‘Ladder Match‘. It was also the first WrestleMania match for the late Scott Hall, A.K.A Razor Ramon. From start to finish this match was entertaining to the core. There were so many innovative spots and both the superstars gave it their all. The Intercontinental Title was one of the most prestigious titles and these men were ready to risk it all to win the gold. During the closing stages of the match, we witnessed one of the most unique spots in pro-wrestling history. While Michaels was climbing up the ladder to grab the titles, the Bad Guy, Razor Ramon shoulder tackled the ladder and knocked it down. Michaels fell onto the ropes and somehow got tangled between them and Ramon managed to climb the ladder and grab the titles. And that was all she wrote.
It was a flawless and highly entertaining match and that made Meltzer give it 5 stars. It is the first-ever WrestleMania match to earn 5 stars from Meltzer.
Bret Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
This was a ‘No Disqualification Submission Match‘. It was also officiated by UFC Fighter Ken Shamrock. It was a brutal match. Bret Hart lost it when Steve Austin would not tap to the infamous ‘Sharp Shooter‘. The Hitman decided to bash Austin’s skull with a steel chair. The Rattle Snake began to bleed and that pretty was the moment that the fans also got highly into the match. it was a brutal affair and in the end, Austin had no other choice but to submit.
These are the 2 matches that received 5 stars. With this year’s WrestleMania only days away, we could see another 5-star match. Some of the potential matches that could earn 5 stars are Edge vs AJ Styles, Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey and of course, Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar.
