SUMMARY
- Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns was an instant classic, and The American Nightmare eventually won the match.
- Despite having the odds against him, Cody Rhodes finishing his story at WrestleMania 40.
The WWE Universe witnessed one of the greatest ever storylines come to its conclusion at WrestleMania 40 as Cody Rhodes finally finished his story. With this, The American Nightmare dethroned Roman Reigns off his historic Undisputed Universal title-reign and made his way straight to the top of the whole division.
The Bloodline Rules match was the result of Cody and Seth Rollins’ loss on night 1, but it ended up being one of the best matches in The Show of Shows’ history. As Rhodes emerged with the win, the fans finally got to see their favorite superstar with the title, and announcer Samantha Irvin wasn’t able to hold her emotions after Cody’s memorable win.

This happened after Cody Rhodes had just won the title, and Irvin was announcing her as the winner of the prestigious title at The Grandest Stage of Them All. But while doing so, her voice was clearly shaking, and it was evident from the tone of her announcement that she was in tears when she was announcing him as the champion.
As she choked up, it shows the kind of attachment everyone from inside and outside of the Triple H-led promotion had to the RAW star’s story. That’s why The American Nightmare‘s Undisputed title win was an emotional moment not only for Cody Rhodes but also for people who were backing him to finish the story.
Samantha Irvin had the same emotion with Sami when he dethroned Gunther, she’s such a great announcer man i’m so glad we have her 😭 pic.twitter.com/f87Pe9zDNv

But it must be noted that Samantha Irvin had a similar reaction to Sami Zayn’s unexpected win against Gunther at WrestleMania 40 Night 2. Such moments clearly show how good of an individual she is on a personal level, and that’s probably why she has emerged as the biggest ring announcer in the Stamford-based promotion in recent years.
Seth Rollins was also emotional after Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 victory
Samantha Irvin being unable to control her emotions was right after the match ended, but she wasn’t the only WWE figure to be in such a condition. In fact, Seth Rollins was also emotional after Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 victory.
This happened after everyone who came out to congratulate Cody for the win had left, and Rhodes was standing alone in the ring. But The American Nightmare then came towards the ropes and had a moment with The Visionary. They shook hands, and Rollins congratulated the fan-favorite star for finally finishing his story.
Seth Rollins may have lost yesterday, but he showed great sportsmanship to Cody Rhodes, this was incredible 😍🥹🥺 #WrestleMania #WrestleMania40 #WrestleManiaXL #CodyRhodes #SethRollins pic.twitter.com/x5ehFBTKc5

Seth said, “It’s now your time baby.” But when all this was happening, the former World Heavyweight Champion was emotional. A major reason behind this might be the kind of involvement he had in the storyline against The Bloodline, as he was the one who had Cody’s back throughout his rivalry against them.
Even though Seth Rollins lost his title on WrestleMania 40 Night 2, his being genuinely happy for Rhodes’ victory shows the kind of human being he is in real life. With this iconic moment at the mega event in Philadelphia, it now remains to be seen what’s next for their respective careers in the promotion. We’ll probably learn about it in the aftermath of WrestleMania on Monday Night RAW.
