He has had a great run in the Stamford-based promotion for a long time and has received praise from a WWE Hall of Famer.
The Undertaker is undoubtedly one of the biggest superstars in the professional wrestling industry. ‘The Deadman’ is massively famous for his tenure at WWE and has had a glorious career spanning over three decades. Given his legendary status, people value his opinions and advice. Mark, in one of his interviews, compared The Rock to the late Bray Wyatt and praised both of them.
In an interview on his podcast ‘Six Feet Under the Mark Callaway,’ The Deadman was talking about how his first meeting with The Rock went. While praising The Brahma Bull, he talked about how there are a lot of wrestlers who are cookie-cutter and do not think outside the box, and Johnson was not like them.
He said, “They’re bringing nothing knew to the table; they’re staying within the box. That was what was so great about, uh, Bray Wyatt, yeah, oh yeah, he just broke boundaries. He thought, yeah, he thought outside of the box.” Mark explained that Bray Wyatt could think outside the box and compared The Rock with him for the same reason.
The Undertaker’s thoughts on when he first met The Rock
In the podcast session, The Undertaker revealed some of his thoughts when he first met The Rock. He said, “I’ll never forget. I remember when coming out in the garden, he had that the the the funny colored thing on and a whole a purple and black, and I was like, H this kid ain’t gonna make it”. Mark did not have a very good impression of Johnson when he first met him.
But over time, things changed, and The Undertaker explained further in the podcast how The Rock always seemed motivated. He praised Dwayne and talked about how he rebounded from not making it in football. ‘The Phenom’ appreciated his promotions and his zeal to become the best.
The Undertaker lamented on Bray Wyatt’s death
Bray Wyatt passed away at the fairly young age of 36 on August 24, 2023, leaving behind the grieving WWE universe. His demise saddened various wrestlers in the Stamford-based promotion, and many of them paid their tributes to him.
The Undertaker also talked about Bray’s untimely death while speaking to Bill Apter. ‘The Phenom’ explained how Wyatt had only just begun and said, “It’s sad in the sense that he died such a young man, on a personal level. But on a professional level, he was just scratching the surface of what I think he was going to be”.
He further explained that Bray was really special and could have achieved heights of success in the Triple-H-led promotion. The Undertaker praised Wyatt’s unique perspective on looking at things and how he was not afraid to try the things he believed in. ‘The Phenom’ has said on various occasions that he is a big fan of ‘The Fiend’.
