After weeks of uncertainty around his WWE future, Jey Uso finally made his return to the Stamford-based promotion at the Payback PLE. As Cody Rhodes introduced Main Event Jey as the newest addition to the Monday Night RAW roster, fans were left elated and welcomed the fan-favorite Uso with a thunderous pop.
As Jey was announced to have shifted to RAW, fans started sharing speculations about some exciting rivalries for him on the red brand. Adding to the already existing buzz after his return, Adam Pearce announced on RAW’s September 4 episode that to return the favor of Jey’s trade to the 3-hour show, somebody will have to be traded to SmackDown.

Following this confirmation by Adam, the audience has been wondering who from Monday Night RAW will be making the move to Friday Night SmackDown. But a large part of pro wrestling fans believe that it’s probably going to be “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
Expressing his belief that Cody will be the one moving to SmackDown, an audience member wrote, “The American Nightmare headed to Friday Nights.” “100% cody,” a WWE fan wrote while showing certainty that it’s going to be Rhodes. “All Rhodes lead to Friday nights!,” someone said while sharing a sarcastic take on Cody’s potential shift to Friday’s show. Looking at these reactions, fans seem convinced that Rhodes will be making the jump to SmackDown after Jey Uso‘s return. However, it remains to be seen if this speculation turns into reality, or if the Triple-H led promotion will swerve the fans by doing something unexpected.
Is Cody Rhodes getting traded to SmackDown after Jey Uso’s return to RAW?
Fans are certain that Cody is getting traded to WWE SmackDown after Jey Uso’s return to RAW. But another thing that adds credibility to this speculation is the high-profile storyline he could be continuing on Friday night’s show.
As soon as Rhodes returned to the Triple H-led promotion back in 2022, he made it clear that he wanted to fulfil his father’s dream of winning the top prize in the Stamford-based promotion. To do so, he even challenged Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but failed to defeat him for the Undisputed Championship.

Interestingly, several reports have revealed that Cody Rhodes is probably going to challenge The Tribal Chief for his title again at next year’s WrestleMania 40. Thus, a move to SmackDown would be the best possible thing for The American Nightmare to start his journey to reach the top of the division.
Even though the upcoming WrestleMania is still nearly seven months away, Rhodes winning matches on the same brand as his WrestleMania 2024 opponent could be the best decision. If Cody gets drafted to Friday Night SmackDown, WWE would have enough time to get the entire storyline together and have a great buildup for their WrestleMania 40 encounter.
