WrestleMania 40 is officially in the history books now, as Cody Rhodes finally finished the story in Philadelphia. The match was an absolute banger as it was full of surprises, and The American Nightmare was eventually able to dethrone Roman Reigns off his Undisputed title at The Show of Shows.
Despite the highly emotional finish the main event of the 2024 edition of The Grandest Stage of Them All had, the event had a number of botches. So, let’s take a look at five insanely ridiculous botches you might have missed on WrestleMania 40 Night 2.
Bobby Lashley’s WrestleMania 40 match didn’t end well
In what was probably the first botch of WrestleMania 40 Night 2, Bobby Lashley’s match at the show didn’t end well. The veteran was a part of a Philadelphia Street Fight match on Sunday, as he teamed up with Street Profits to take on The Final Testament at The Show of Shows.
The match was filled with a number of surprises, as Snoop Dogg was on the commentary desk for this encounter, and Bubba Ray Dudley was the special guest referee for this high-profile match. As The Dudley Boyz’ member was involved in the match, the fans started chanting tables when the match was in its final phase, and the babyfaces obliged.

To give fans what they wanted, Street Profits set up the object in the middle of the ring, and Bobby went to the top of the side to deliver a splash. But when the tag team placed Karrion Kross on the table, it broke, and it resulted in Kross falling down. This ended up becoming a botch, as the actual spot, which was going to be memorable, ended up becoming a forgettable memory for the fans.
Fans aren’t happy with LA Knight for his botches against AJ Styles
The second position on this list of 5 insanely ridiculous botches you might have missed on WrestleMania 40 Night 2 belongs to the highly anticipated LA Knight vs. AJ Styles match. In fact, WWE fans aren’t really happy with Knight for his botches in his match on The Grandest Stage of Them All in Philadelphia.
Calling out LA for the botch spots his match against Styles had, someone from the audience wrote, “Did anyone count how many botches Knight had in that one match????” “LA Knight with another botch. The one thing he is good at,” a member of the WWE Universe commented while mocking him for his WrestleMania bout.
Even though the fan-favorite star was able to come out victorious from The Showcase of the Immortals, these comments show that a part of the audience isn’t happy with the way he performed at Sunday’s show. With that, it remains to be seen what’s next for him after this huge win against AJ Styles and also if he responds to fans comments about his botches or not.
Kevin Owens covered Logan Paul’s botch
While Logan Paul was able to retain his United States Championship against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, it wasn’t easy for him. Alongside the kind of in-ring challenge he faced in the triple-threat match, The Maverick was also about to get embarrassed at WrestleMania 40.
In fact, in a major botch during his match, Logan almost slipped from the top rope when he was able to take down Owens from there. Despite the mistake Paul made on The Grandest Stage of Them All, he didn’t get injured, all thanks to The Prizefighter, who covered the YouTuber’s botch.

When the social media sensation slipped, Kevin turned it into a perfect landing, and it shows how good he is as a professional wrestler. Even though the YouTube star did this botch, his performance in the ring on The Show of Shows was brilliant, and he gave one of the best ever matches of his career in the Triple H-led promotion.
Several technical botches were witnessed throughout WrestleMania 40
In addition to the in-ring botch spots, several technical botches were also witnessed throughout WrestleMania 40. This included issues like Pyro going off late and the usage of vignettes not being up to the mark. All these things took an obvious toll on the quality of the event, and they could have obviously been better.
Such stuff also happened during the Saturday night of the show, and the botch during the 6-team ladder match grabbed a lot of eyeballs. During the entrances, Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne came out to Awesome Truth’s video, which was embarrassing for them. Thus, such technical glitches made things really bad for the Triple H-led promotion.
Cody Rhodes’ historic match against Roman Reigns also had a botch spot
In the main event of WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finally finished his story by dethroning Roman Reigns, but this historic match had a botch. This happened in the middle of the encounter when The American Nightmare was finding something under the ring. But when Cody was doing so, some fans got to see someone hiding under the ring.
Even though the WWE Universe members who saw it weren’t able to recognize who it was, they got to know it later in the bout. It happened when The Rock showed up to confront John Cena after The Cenation Leader came out to take out Solo Sikoa. But after Dwayne attacked John, The Undertaker came out, and it gave the hint that he was probably the one hiding below the ring.

It’s true that the match between The Tribal Chief and Rhodes was arguably the best booked match in WrestleMania history, but it even had this botch. It only shows that in the world of professional wrestling, such things happen, and what’s important is the way the end result covers such moments.
In this regard, it’s safe to say that the main event was generational, and fans won’t really complain about this mistake. With Cody Rhodes finally becoming the Undisputed Universal Champion at The Show of Shows, it remains to be seen what’s next in line for The American Nightmare in the Triple H-led promotion.
