John Cena is now back on WWE television after a hiatus, and his current run is going to be the biggest since he turned his focus to Hollywood. The Cenation Leader has given his all to the pro wrestling industry, but he’s been very successful in his Hollywood career too.
Cena has given some memorable performances, ever since he joined Hollywood, and it’s probably just the start. As the pro wrestling legend has been fabulous in his acting career, he has received a lot of recognition in Hollywood, but a few years back, he was given credit for something he never did.
It happened back in December 2018, as the WWE legend was named in the starcast of Netflix’s release Bird Box. This small mistake of Cena being named in the movie’s star cast list made the entire world think that John Cena was really a part of the sci-fi Hollywood movie.

Sharing a screenshot of being named among the cast of Netflix’s hit Bird Box on his X handle, the WWE legend pointed out how he had been mistakenly added to the list. The Cenation Leader wrote, “So google it’s not your fault…I’ve been busy. The movie everyone can C is 🐝 out everywhere NOW!” (Via: X)
Despite not being a part of the movie, the 16-time World Champion being named in the starcast was obviously an error, but it resulted in a lot of confusion. This issue became clear only after the WWE veteran clarified the situation on social media.
John Cena’s upcoming movies
From working in Bumblebee to being The Peacemaker and most recently making an appearance in Barbie, the pro wrestling icon has done it all in his Hollywood career. After giving such banger performances in the past, The Cenation Leader is expected to carry on this legacy going forward as well.
Even though John is currently back on WWE’s weekly television amid the SAG-AFTRA strike, he has a lot of Hollywood projects lined up to follow after his ongoing run with Triple H’s company. In the list of Cena’s upcoming movies, the one that’s closest to its release is his adventure/comedy movie, “Freelance.”
The Pierre Morel-directed movie will also star Alice Eve, and Juan Pablo Raba, and it is set to be released on October 6, 2023. Following this, the 16-time WWE Champion’s next big release will be the thriller/spy movie “Argylle,” which will be released on February 2, 2024.
Alongside his Hollywood projects, The Cenation Leader will also continue to be a special attraction in the Stamford-based promotion. With Cena scheduled to make consecutive WWE appearances in September and October, it’ remains to be seen what the legend will be up to.
