SUMMARY
- Dwayne Johnson kept switching his persona from face to heel during his tenure in WWE.
- Previously, The Rock slapped Cody Rhodes in the face to show off his heel persona.
Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, has made a huge name for himself both in the world of professional wrestling and in Hollywood. He previously became a part of WWE in 1996. Following that, he went on to emerge as an important part of the promotion.
The Rock became a part of several feuds and participated in many matches. He also headlined numerous pay-per-view events. Not to mention, he is a 10-time world champion in the Stamford-based promotion. Throughout his tenure with WWE, Johnson kept switching from a face-to-heel persona and vice versa.
However, early in 2024, The Rock made his return to the Stamford-based promotion and showcased a heel turn. This heel turn took fans by surprise, and they seem to be enjoying every bit of it. Thus, it seems Dwayne Johnson should never turn on the face persona ever again. Meanwhile, here are a few reasons why he should never do that.
The Rock has established himself well as a heel
Previously, The Rock made his debut in WWF/WWE as Rocky Maivia. Thereafter, he was featured as a clean-cut character. However, his character was rejected by the fans. Not only that, they became hostile towards him and began chanting “die, Rocky, die.”
Moving ahead, Johnson showcased a heel turn and began taking shots at the fans. Thereafter, he regularly insulted the fans, interviewers, and fellow superstars. This surprisingly led to The Rock’s sudden rise in popularity.
Thereafter, Johnson kept switching between face and heel turns. However, he received more love from the fans while showcasing his villainous side. Meanwhile, The People’s Champion made a return to WWE in September 2023. During that, he channeled the face side of his character.
However, moving ahead, in early 2024, Dwayne slapped The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes and therefore reverted back to his heel persona. While fans enjoyed Johnson’s return as a face, his turning heel generated a lot more heat. He began taking shots at the fans of Cody Rhodes and thus gathered a lot of heat from the fans.
Thus, it can be well stated that Dwayne Johnson has established himself as a heel. Turning a heel might be an easy job. However, it becomes difficult to main the character, which The Great One has done amazingly well.
Face turn indicates no more hilarious live concerts
Previously, Dwayne Johnson added a significant feature to his heel persona. He began doing hilarious live concerts, which were popularly referred to as ‘Rock concerts’. Meanwhile, during this, he played a musical instrument and mocked the audience and fellow superstars.
Johnson was previously engaged in a breathtaking rivalry with John Cena. During that, he did a Rock concert and mocked the 16-time World Champion in his songs. Thereafter, he kept doing several such concerts.
On the 20th anniversary of RAW, Johnson ended the show with one of his concerts. Not only that, he took shots at CM Punk during that, and it ultimately resulted in a brawl between the two. Following that, several other concerts of his ended in chaos.
However, it is worth mentioning that, after his return in 2010, The People’s Champion began performing the concerts as a face. But the fans weren’t impressed, and he failed to deliver the same level of charm. Therefore, he only performed the concerts during his heel turn.
Meanwhile, after his heel turn in early 2024, fans once again got to enjoy his live concerts. During that, he took constant shots at Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Thus, it is evident that if The Rock ever turns face again, then there will be no more hilarious live concerts for the fans. Thus, his facial turn shouldn’t take place, so that fans can continue enjoying his concerts.
Heel Dwayne Johnson might pave the way for Roman Reigns’ face-turn
Roman Reigns, just like The Rock, kept switching between his heel and face personas. However, for the past few years, The Tribal Chief has stuck to the heel side of his character. He has been the leader of The Bloodline stable and is also the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Meanwhile, Reigns will be facing Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40. Whether he wins or loses, there’s a possibility that his next feud might be with Dwayne Johnson. The Rock, as a heel, might turn on Reigns or might simply challenge him to a match at an upcoming pay-per-view event.
If that happens, there’s a huge possibility that Roman Reigns might change his face persona. Since then, he has been feuding with The Rock, who is a fan-favorite heel. Thus, it can be stated that Johnson’s staying heel might pave the way for Reigns’ face turn. However, only time will tell what will actually happen.
Thus, from the above-mentioned points, it can be understood that The Rock is better as a heel and should never turn face again. With that, it is now to be seen what plans the largest wrestling promotion in the world has for him going forward. Whatever the case, fans will look forward to more updates about their favorite pro wrestler and Hollywood Superstar.
