Fans were amazed to see Johnson’s family tree and how he was connected to ‘The Tribal Chief’. Roman Reigns and The Rock share a common ancestry. The grandfather of Roman Reverend Amituana’i Anoa’i was the blood brother of Dwayne’s grandfather, ‘High Chief’ Peter Mavia.

- Peter Mavia
Originally known as Fanene Leifi Peter Mavia, ‘High Chief’ was a well-known professional wrestler of his time. Born on April 6, 1937, he started his wrestling career at the age of 23. He has worked for different promotions in New Zealand and Australia.
Peter also worked generously in Hawaii in his career. He has worked for some promotions like NWA San Francisco, NWA Hollywood, Houston Wrestling, and WCCW. Mavia won numerous titles in his career and was a decorated wrestler.
The ‘High Chief’ debuted on WWF in 1977 and had a great 4-year run there. He was one of the biggest faces of the company in his time and wrestled with great wrestlers like Bobby Buckland, Ivan, and others. He wrestled his last match in Hawaii in February 1982 against Victory Rivera and defeated him.

Originally known as Wayde Douglas Bowles, Rocky Johnson was a Canadian professional wrestler. He was married to Peter Mavia’s daughter, Mataniufeagaimaleata Fitisemanu Maivia, and the couple was blessed with a son. His son is none other than the famous superstar The Rock.
Rocky was also a renowned professional wrestler and was quite famous. He began his career at the National Wrestling Alliance in 1964 and continued there for nearly two decades. Johnson debuted on WWF in 1982 and won the Tag Team Championship along with Tony Atlas.
The duo defeated the Wild Samoans for the title and became the first black men to hold a WWF Championship. He retired from wrestling in 1991 and trained his son, Dwayne Johnson, who turned out to be a megastar in the pro wrestling industry.

Afa Anoa’i has three sons, Lloyd Anoa’i, Manu, and Samu, and all of them have been professional wrestlers. Lloyd Anoa’i made his wrestling debut in 1987 after training under ‘The Wild Samoans’. He has also competed in WWF under the ring name ‘Tahitian Savage’.

Rikishi was one of the famous superstars in the Attitude Era and had feuds with big superstars. He is succeeded in the Triple-H-led promotion by his three sons, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and Solo Sikoa. Jimmy and Solo are part of the faction called ‘The Bloodline’ led by Roman Reigns.

Originally known as Edward Smith Fatu, Umaga was the blood brother of Rikishi. He made his WWE debut as Jamal in 2000. He had an image of a ruthless and destructive Samoan wrestler and was quite famous for his gimmick.

Umaga won the WWE Intercontinental Championship two times. He had feuds with major superstars like John Cena, Kane, Batista, and others. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 36.
- Tonga Kid/ Sam Fatu
Originally known as Samuel Larry Anoa’i Fatu, Sam Fatu is the blood brother of Rikishi and Umaga. He debuted in WWE in 1983 under the ring name ‘Tonga Kid’. He won the Slammy Award during his run in the Stamford-based promotion.
Sam Fatu also wrestled in major promotions like the World Wrestling Council and World Wrestling Championships, where he won titles. He is a cousin of Roman Reigns and The Rock.

Solo Sikoa, the youngest child of Rikishi, was born on March 18, 1993. Following in the footsteps of his brothers, he received training from his father and entered professional wrestling in 2018. In 2021, Solo made his debut in NXT, the Stamford-based promotion. In 2022, he achieved success by winning the NXT North American Championship, triumphing over Carmelo Hayes.
The Anoa’i family is a legendary family, and its legacy is maintained by the current superstars. The Rock, Roman Reigns, Uso’s, and Solo Sikoa continue to dominate the wrestling industry.
