Retired pro wrestler Dave Bautista has been quite successful since his move to become a full-time actor. The Animal was one of the biggest stars in WWE of his generation, and he has replicate a similar kind of success in his acting career too.
Among all characters Bautista has portrayed, one performance that he’s admired immensely is Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Cinematic Universe. He portrayed it in three volumes of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, and earned over $20,000,000 from MCU.
Even though Dave received immense praise for this role, he retired from this iconic character, and a lot of people wonder if he’ll ever return to Marvel. But this possibility was ruled out by the actor when he said that he’ll not return. As he shared this, he also gave a valid reason.
This happened when the actor appeared on “The Tonight Show,” and talked about his exit from Marvel. He said, “It was like our trilogy. That’s kind of what we all signed up for, to do a trilogy. And I think this will be the last version of our ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.'” (Via: Variety)
Moreover, Bautista shared how he ended his WWE career on a storybook note, and he wants the same for his role as Drax. As Dave disclosed that he doesn’t want to tarnish the legacy of the iconic character, it’s evident that he’ll probably never return as Drax in Marvel Studios.
Dave Bautista believes Drax was the role that changed his life forever
Even though The Animal made it clear that he’s not going to play Drax again, he admitted that he’s grateful for this role. Telling the importance this character holds in his career, Bautista once shared that he believes Drax was the role that changed his life.
This happened about five months ago, in May 2023, when Dave shared a tweet on his X handle. Posting a clip from the days when he was still shooting for the role, the actor wrote a note. In his post, the 54-year-old expressed his love for his character from “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Telling how he feels that this role helped him in his acting career, the MCU artist opened his heart out. The Animal wrote, “Every day I say a little prayer for Drax. The role that changed my life. Forever grateful to the fans and my Guardians family.”

Furthermore, the WWE legend thanked the audience for giving him so much love for the portrayal of Drax the destroyer. It’s true that Bautista is no longer a part of the franchise, but he’ll always be remembered as Drax. Will we get to see Dave in MCU in a similar role? Only the future knows the answer to this question
