Adam Copeland, aka Edge, has been in the talks for multiple reasons. But his relationships have always made it to the list of him being the talk of the town. Despite him becoming popular for his live s*x celebration with Lita, many fans are unaware of the fact that Edge had been married to Lisa Ortiz before he tied the knot with Beth Phoenix.
Adam Copeland first pledged his marriage vows to Alannah Morley in 2001. After their split within four years of marriage, he found love in Lisa Ortiz. The two first met while Edge was signed to the WWE. During this time, he also became a victim of a neck injury, putting his career in the professional wrestling industry in jeopardy. Amidst this chaos in his life, Lisa came to his rescue.
“She walked into my life during a rough period, and somehow she was able to pull me through some of my most difficult times. It was like she hit me in the heart with a hammer lathered in love” said the WWE Hall Of Famer in an interview. However, as beautiful as the relationship seemed on the surface, it wasn’t the same from within.
Edge and Lisa got married in October 2004 and got divorced in February 2005. Because of her short relationship with The Rated R Superstar, not much is known about Lisa Ortiz. Her fandom, which rose to prominence because of Copeland’s fanbase, dropped suddenly. After their divorce, she went away from the limelight, driving the knowledge of her whereabouts away from the public.
The reason behind Adam Copeland and Lisa Ortiz’s divorce
After a messy divorce in 2004 with Alannah Morley, Edge seemingly found great support in the form of Lisa Ortiz. The two got married in 2004, but within four months, they fell apart. At this time, Edge had an ongoing storyline with Amy Dumas, aka Lita, inside the ring. But soon, the storyline shifted to reality.
Lisa Ortiz found out that Edge had cheated on her with Lita. This not only angered her but also Matt Hardy, who was dating Lita at the time. Both of them left no stone unturned in taking digs at their partners. Ortiz went ahead to call her husband “a coward” for not having the courage to tell her about his change of love interest.
Lisa took to Matt Hardy’s website and wrote, “Amy and Adam have had many many opportunities to tell Matt and I both the truth. A chance to say hey… Sorry I hurt you but I fell in love with someone else. But they have both repeatedly continued to lie, lie, lie, lie!” Eventually, Beth Phoenix and Edge tied the knot in 2016.
