SUMMARY
- Jinder Mahal made his return to WWE on the Day 1 episode of Monday Night RAW.
- The Modern Day Maharaja is set to challenge Seth Rollins for his World Heavyweight title next week.
WWE started the year in an epic way as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a surprise appearance on RAW’s Day 1 episode. But even before he appeared, the guy who made a return was The Modern Day Maharaja, Jinder Mahal.
After a great segment with The People’s Champion, Mahal was involved in a promo battle with Seth Rollins on this week’s Monday Night RAW. In fact, he ended up receiving a shot at The Visionary’s World Heavyweight Championship, as they will fight on the show’s January 15 episode.
In what initially seemed like just another defense for Rollins, things have heated up immensely due to Tony Khan. Giving a controversial reaction on Jinder getting an opportunity to win the prestigious title, AEW’s president took a dig at the former WWE Champion, and his tweet has taken sparked an outrage on the internet.
A moral victory for USA is one win more than their World Title challenger Jinder Mahal has in the past 364 days… because it’s been literally a full year since he won a match.

You really put AEW in our place getting Jinder Mahal in a big match on your tv show. Do it more often https://t.co/0kpuUsvkm1
In his recent tweet, the Jacksonville-based promotion’s CEO wrote, “A moral victory for USA is one win more than their World Title challenger Jinder Mahal has in the past 364 days. because it’s been literally a full year since he won a match.”
As Tony criticized WWE for putting the 37-year-old star in a title match with a poor win-loss record, the matter has become arguably the hottest topic in the pro wrestling industry. Whether the Triple H-led promotion’s booking is right or wrong is a different thing, but fans have surely not liked what AEW’s CEO tweeted.
Jinder Mahal responds to Tony Khan’s recent criticizm
Tony Khan targeting Jinder Mahal’s WWE booking is probably something the audience hasn’t liked much. Since the AEW president’s tweet, The Modern Day Maharaja has been receiving a lot of fan support, and it has already created a lot of hype for his match against Rollins on next week’s Monday Night RAW.
Sharing how Tony’s comments have worked in favor of the former WWE Champion, an audience member wrote, “Jinder Mahal just became the biggest baby face in wrestling.” “Not gonna lie Jinder Mahal is actually cool,” another pro wrestling fan wrote while praising the Indo-Canadian in-ring performer. Even The Modern Day Maharaja didn’t hesitate to make a statement as he replied to Khan’s remarks in his own fashion. In a now-deleted tweet, he wrote, “Who tf is Hook?.” Moreover, he informed everyone to watch next week’s RAW, as he’ll be fighting a very important match of his career on the upcoming episode.
It must be noted that AEW’s Hook is set to challenge Samoa Joe for his World Championship, and Mahal’s tweet was a dig at him. With the 37-year-old himself coming out to reply to Tony Khan, the whole matter has probably gone too far, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for this battle between All Elite Wrestling and the Triple H-led promotion.
