The fifth day of Wimbledon saw some obvious results and a few upsets. With the players heading to the fourth round, the competition is expected to get even tougher now. Here are the results from day 5 at the All England Club.
Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz ease into Round of 16
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were the two big names to watch out for on day 5. Both of them won their respective matches in a convincing fashion.
Djokovic faced fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanović in the third round and won the match in straight sets. Djokovic broke Kecmanović in the first set itself as the seed number one managed to break all his opponent’s serves in the first set. The score eventually read 6-0, 6-3, 6-4.

Carlos Alcaraz met with a tougher opponent in Oscar Otte but the latter was no match for the young Spaniard. The 19-year-old won the match 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 to make it to the next round. He also became the youngest tennis player to reach the round of 16 of Wimbledon since 2011.
Ons Jabeur, Coco Gauff through to next round, Angelique Kerber exits
Ons Jabeur continued her glorious run at Wimbledon as she won her match against Diane Parry 6-2, 6-3. The Tunisian star is yet to lose a set at the All England Club this year. She is now one of the favorites to win the title and has the potential to break the win streak of world number one Iga Swiatek.

French Open finalist Coco Gauff also had an easy match. She won her match against Mihaela Buzărnescu 6-2, 6-3. With most of the top ten seeds exiting the tournament, she stands a chance to make it to the semis and even win the title. ‘
One of the biggest upsets of day 5 happened when seed number 15 Angelique Kerber lost to Elise Mertens in straight sets. Mertens won the match 6-4, 7-5 to book a place in the Round of 16.
