Italian soccer witnessed one of the most commanding league title glory this season with Inter Milan lifting their 20ᵗʰ Scudetto. Led expertly by their manager, Simone Inzaghi, Inter cruised to a comfortable domestic triumph, playing eye-catching soccer along with displaying their unparalleled mentality. Though their results in the Coppa Italia and Champions League led to some disappointment, Inter Milan’s season has increased their expectations more than ever for the future.
With the 2024/25 season set to start in the coming months, many have already started debating about Inter’s chances to retain their Italian supremacy. The club’s rivals have ensured to strengthen their case to challenge the Nerazurri next season. Napoli has brought in the accomplished Antonio Conte as their coach to get the Naples club back on track while Juventus and Thiago Motta have joined hands to lead an ambitious project in Piemonte. Inter Milan, however, will still be confident in their ability to successfully defend the Serie A title.
Inter Milan’s well-maintained stability
The last decade proved to be one of the most challenging phases in Inter’s long history. Owing to the lack of stability at the top, the club suffered due to inconsistent results and the ever-changing structure. Nevertheless, with the takeover of Inter Milan by Steven Zhang in 2016, fans were finally subject to silverware that the club had been deprived of for so long.
Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have been entrusted by the management to carry out the transfer activities of Inter Milan. Both have done a commendable job of ensuring that the team’s base is not interrupted too frequently giving Inzaghi a settled group of players every season. Inter Milan have acted smart in the recent transfer windows, securing key deals in various positions and assembling a squad capable of competing on all fronts.
Lack of experience among Inter Milan’s competitors
Thiago Motta, who enjoyed a spectacular season with Bologna, has been tipped by many to de-throne Inter of their status as the champions of Italy. Motta’s tactics are well-suited to the modern game but his inexperience at the top level does present doubts over his side mounting a serious challenge for the league next campaign. Many argue about the time needed for the Italian to integrate his ideas among the players before summoning for silverware.
On the other hand, Antonio Conte has all the experience in the world regarding Scudetto’s triumphs. However, his new job as Napoli boss introduces him to the issue of aligning his players with his ideas of winning. Napoli is expected to undergo a big overhaul in the summer transfer window, making Conte‘s job of securing the Serie A title in his first season more difficult than ever.
