Putting an end to a 10-year relationship with Portland Trail Blazers, point guard Damian Lillard, as part of a three-team trade with Phoenix Suns, was acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks on September 27.

Two days following his trade to the Bucks, news of a big speculation in relation to Lillard's personal life arrived, with links to his relationship with college sweetheart and wife Kay'La Hanson.

Being the first to publish the news, The Willamette Week shared details on Lillard's filing for divorce from his wife, citing “irreconcilable differences causing immediate marriage breakdown".

With a 15-year relationship, including two years of married life, Damian and his wife Kay'La's relationship goes a long way back to their college years at Weber State University, Utah, in 2008.

After dating for 13 years and the birth of their three children, the couple got married in 2021 in the presence of eminent celebrities, including rapper Snoop Dogg and other Blazers teammates.

Having not recently posted on his wife's social media in recent months, Lillard's mention was last seen with an appreciation post on Mother's Day made during the month of May.

Damian's post with his family picture, read, "It takes a special person to wear all the hats that a mother does. I love you, and I'm thankful to share what I’m most proud of with you."

Lillard, who is currently busy training with the Bucks franchise and its players, including star player Giannis Antetokounmpo, has yet to make any official comment or statement on the matter.

Lillard's attorney, Shawn Menashe, on the other hand, stated, “Damian and his family ask that their privacy be respected during this sensitive time and presently have no further comment.”
