Why Michael Jordan Was Not in the Movie 'Air'?

Michael Jordan, one of the most prominent and legendary NBA players of all time, has been a source of inspiration from his roles as a player in movies or when authored in books.

Starred in movies like Space Jam, The Last Dance, The Captain, etc., Jordan's career as a rookie player was made into the script in the recent movie 'Air' of 2023.

Directed by Ben Affleck, the film reflects on the story of Jordan's contract with Nike, which revolutionized the shoe brand business, along with the career of the 21-year-old rookie player.

Quite surprisingly, the legend himself was not a part of the movie. Not even a single scene showed a real image of him. Even the scenes of him in the movie were done by other actors shown from behind.

For Ben Affleck, "There was no way I was going to ask the public to believe that someone other than him was Michael Jordan. I thought he was too majestic for anyone to imitate. Jordan is too big."

The movie was, however, made only after Jordan's approval and authorization of the story. It was Jordan himself who provided the information about Nike executive Howard White.

Initially released on the social media platform Amazon Prime Video, the movie got its theatrical release by Warner Bros. Pictures following good feedback from all over.

The critically acclaimed movie starring stars like Den Affleck, Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, and Chris Tucker got an A in reception.
