The rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has persisted through the ages. They have played against each other 40 times, with Nadal leading the head-to-head record 24-16. 

Aside from the competition, their off-court relationship is one of mutual respect, admiration, and friendship. Here are some of the most wholesome moments in the rivalry between Federer and Nadal.

Laver Cup The highly anticipated doubles match featuring Federer and Nadal against Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe at the Laver Cup had the entire tennis community on the edge of their seats.

Despite the tough competition, Roger's retirement added a poignant touch to the emotional moment they shared after the match. They were both moved to tears by their performances and mutual respect.

Wimbledon 2008 final The 2008 Wimbledon final is considered one of the best tennis matches ever played. The battle between Federer and Nadal lasted over 4 hours, with Nadal winning it at the end.

Australian Open In 2009, Nadal and Federer faced each other again in the Australian Open final. It was another five-set thriller, with Nadal clinching his first ever Australian Open. 

The post-match ceremony was especially moving as a tearful Federer struggled to make his speech. Nadal approached him and hugged him, telling him he was a champion and one of the greatest in history.

Nadal's Tennis Academy Nadal opened his tennis academy in Spain in 2016, and Federer was there to support him. Federer told Nadal that if his kids pursued tennis, they would train at his academy.
