When Roger Federer Broke His Gentleman Persona And Lost His Cool On The Umpire

During the course of the match, Roger Federer got really angry after the umpire allowed Del Potro to challenge a late call for a game. He even went on to say,  “I don’t give a s*** what he (del Potro) said”

While many expected Rafael Nadal to be his opponent in the final, it was Juan Martin del Potro who faced Roger Federer in the title match.

Del Potro’s lack of experience matched with Federer’s US Open record and form made the Swiss an overwhelming favourite for the title.

However, in one of the most surprising defeats of his career, Federer lost 3-6 7-6(5) 4-6 7-6(4) 6-2.

Del Potro’s shot was ruled out after an apparent winner and after a bit of time he decided to review it. The Hawkeye made the review in favor of Del Potro and Federer was annoyed with this.

Roger went on ranting to the umpire. He was seemingly not happy with the decision made by the umpire to allow Del Potro two late calls for taking a review.

He said, You can challenge for like 2 seconds, that guy takes like 10. Do you have any rules in there?”
