Unknown Facts About UFC Champ Alexander Volkanovski

The Australian MMA artist has mastered leg kicks since he was young. This was evident when he snatched the featherweight title swiftly from Max Holloway by landing 75 kicks at UFC 245.    

Featherweight Alexander Volkonovski comes in the cage with his excellent game plan due to which his initial opponents didn't last long. His first four fights all got over in under 2 minutes. 

The Featherweight champion made his quickest finish against James Bishop in 99 seconds at AFC 13, 2015. Hence his fierceness contributes much to many of his TKO and KO victories in his record.

Volkanovski, being the intellectual fighter he is, shredded his weight and competed in the first Middleweight, followed by Welterweight. He currently competes in the Featherweight division.  

Along with MMA, Volkanovski is also trained in Muai Thai at a gym in Phuket, Thailand. And he gives due credit to his instructor Tiger Muay Thai for helping him better his striking abilities.

Alexander adopted his initial nickname “The Great” in reference to Alexander The Great. Many assume this to be because his parentage is similar to that of the king, although little is known about it.

Although, as and when he climbed up the ladder of success and went further in his career, he changed his nickname to 'The Hulk' as it suited him better when he went down the featherweight lane. 

Volkanovski is a person who loves multiple sports. He started training for Greco-Roman wrestling when he was young and won a national title in it when he was 12. However, he gave up wrestling at 14. 

Volkanovski was born with sports n his blood. Along with MMA, he was also a professional Rugby player once. He was an A-Grade and played for Warilla Gorillas from Illawarra in New South Wales.

Alexander Volkanovski is a family man at his heart. According to him, his biggest supporters are his family, especially his wife Emma and his daughters Ariana and Airlie.
