UFC lightweight division is stacked with some of the most exciting fighters in the roster including the likes of Oliveira, Makhachev, Poirier and Gaethje.
Charles Oliveria and Islam Makhachev are scheduled to fight each other for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.
And that leaves Beneil Dariush, who is on a 8 fight winning streak, looking for a fight to earn the next title shot.
Well, it seems fans might see Beneil Dariush soon inside the UFC octagon against the former UFC interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Ali Abdelaziz confirmed that UFC is working on Dustin Poirier vs Beneil Dariush. "I know UFC was trying to make Beneil vs Dustin Poirier"- Abdelaziz stated
Dustin Poirier suffered a submission defeat in his last fight against Charles Oliveira and missed another opportunity to become the undisputed UFC champion.
Since then Poirier has been eyeing for a fight against Nate Diaz, who is likely to leave UFC soon. Now Dariush is not an exciting matchup for Poirier at this point of his career.
Dustin Poirier would rather aim for a fight against Michael Chandler with whom he recently had a verbal altercation with at an UFC PPV event.
