The veteran star then signed with WWE's rival promotion AEW where he debuted at the Revolution Pay-per-view in March during a match between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson.
He recently turned heel during the AEW World Championship match between Jon Moxley and MJF by helping Maxwell win the championship.
Regal was then written off AEW TV after MJF attacked him on last week's AEW Dynamite in a surprising turn of events.
Fightful select is now reporting that William Regal is done with AEW and is set to make his return to the WWE to work with Triple H.
It'll be interesting to see what role will Regal play in the WWE under Triple H's leadership. He's expected to return next year.
