Triple H Buries 38-Year-Old WWE Veteran Despite Fan Criticism

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H decided to end the ongoing Baron Corbin and JBL alliance on WWE TV after the veteran buried Corbin on last week's Raw.

Corbin's 'Happy Corbin' gimmick was binned right after Triple H took over and he was given a character repackage and was provided WWE Hall of Famer JBL as his manager.

It looks like the creative decision is to have JBL and Corbin separated and according to reports, the reason why the alliance was ended by Triple H was because it wasn't working.

Dave Meltzer on The Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed that the angle was not supposed to go in such a direction and that was the reason why they decided to end the storyline abruptly.

"They gave up on it. Obviously, this wasn't the plan. The guy in charge, that's Paul [Levesque], felt it wasn't working, and that was it." Meltzer said. (h/t: Sportskeeda)

Corbin in the past has had many gimmicks and the star was able to pull off all of them with ease. His broke Corbin gimmick is considered one of the most underrated ones in recent times by fans.

The star was booked well in NXT as his 'Lone Wolf' character was one of the best acts that NXT had. After getting called up to the main roster, Corbin was unable to replicate his NXT form.

It'll be interesting to see what the creative direction will be for Corbin moving forward. Some fans feel that Triple H will bring the Lone Wolf character back to the main roster soon.
