As thrilling as it is to watch on screen, UFC is an equally dangerous sport. Over the years UFC has been a witness to some of the most brutal and nasty injuries that professionals had to go through.

Matt Mitrione faced Travis Browne at UFC fight night in 2016, where he got a swelling in the eye, which became so severe that it shattered his orbital bone, along with a dislocated shoulder.

Regarded as one of the nastiest injuries in UFC, Leslie Smith's ear injury against Jessica Eye at UFC 180. Due to constant strikes from Eye, Smith's ear split open, spilling blood everywhere.

Again, one of the most brutal injuries in UFC's history is Alistair Overeem's lip split. Jairzinho Rozenstruik delivered a brutal right hand at UFC on ESPN 7 just 4 seconds before the final horn.

Joanna Jędrzejczyk faced brutally severe head hematomas that made her look like an alien during her fight against Weili Zhang at UFC 248. The fight earned her 'greatest fight in women’s MMA history'.

Michael Bisping is suffering from the repercussions of the eye injury that he got at UFC on FX in 2013 against Victor Belfort. The punches detached his retina, which led to his loss of an eye.

UFC saw one major injury in their history in their recent event at UFC Vegas 77. Istela Nunes dislocated her elbow due to the severity of the takedown from her opponent.

Even though the world of UFC is no stranger to injuries, these injuries have left an impact of a lifetime on the fighters who have suffered from them, rightly termed 'the nastiest'.
