Bryant has earned the moniker "Black Mamba" over time. The New Yorker claims that Bryant came up with this term after seeing Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino. The mamba snake represented lethal assassins in the movie.

Kobe Bryant in his book named ‘The Mamba Mentality: How I Play’, wrote about his entire life journey as a basketball player and also shared his personal perspective on how to become a great player.

Kobe said in his Amazon Book Review: “Mamba mentality is all about focusing on the process and trusting in the hard work when it matters most, It’s the ultimate mantra for the competitive spirit…….”

Kobe said in an interview: “The idea is very simple. The mamba mentality simply means trying to be the best version of yourself. It means everyday trying to become better and it’s a constant quest, it’s an infinite quest.”

He also added: “The passion came from love for the game. I love everything about it. Like the smell of the ball, the smell of brand-new sneakers, and the sounds of the ball makes when it hits the ground, the ball going through the net…...”

Kobe continued: “…Like all those things I love and so, the passion comes from that cuz when you have that love you just wanna be a part of this thing all the time.”
