On the same day, the Mavericks organization unveiled a statue of Dirk Nowitzki outside the American Airlines center.
Later, LeBron James called Nowitzki the "greatest international player ever" in his Twitter post. He also called Dirk Nowitzki the legend of the Dallas Mavericks.
LeBron James also tweeted about Dirk: "I put him next to Manu... That boy was a cold man. Dirk was cold. He revolutionized what a stretch 4 big could look like... Dirk was tough, for sure."
When his Miami Heat faced the Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals, James got a chance to witness Nowitzki. It was the pinnacle of Nowitzki's NBA career as he finally received his championship ring after years of falling short in the playoffs.
There have been numerous foreign players such as Manu Ginobili, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid, but Nowitzki was a one-of-a-kind superstar.
On the other hand, Doncic, the 23-year-old has scored 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists. However, Dirk Nowitzki will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Mavericks fans’, since he was the one who led their team to the first world title against James.
