Tennis Player Breaks Multiple Rackets in Heated Confrontation

The unfortunate targets of tennis player Alexander Bublik's irate outburst during a match at the Open Sud de France on Thursday were his rackets.

Bublik, who was placed sixth in the competition, faced off against unranked Grégoire Barrère of France and was clearly the favorite. But the outcome wasn't what you would have anticipated.

Bublik slammed his racket on the court five times after he was jeered by spectators after committing three double faults in the tiebreak that decided the match.

However, every tennis player brings extra rackets to the court, so even if one player throws a fit sometimes, there will still be replacements available. Bublik's fury, nevertheless, didn't end after one racket.

As soon as he arrived at his bench, he scooped up a second racket and smacked it, drawing a loud boo from the audience.

"Well, that’s going to get the treatment as well," broadcaster Mikey Pereira said.

Bublik, a Kazakh native, hurled it aside and destroyed another, whipping his arm with all his power downward. After finishing smashing the rackets, Bublik picked up his fourth and moved to the opposite side of the court.

At that point, Barrère led 6-0, and he wasn't going to let that advantage slip.
