Most number of Grand Slam titles (in women's singles) holder Serena Williams is arguably the greatest player in women's tennis. Her popularity and influence is  unmatchable.

Former world no.1 Naomi Osaka truly holds the potential to be one of the greats in the sport. She became the first player from Japan to win a Grand Slam singles title.

However, when it comes to comparison between the greats, critics and fans feel Naomi still is far behind Serena.

Former professional tennis player and broadcaster, Patrick McEnroe shares his opinions on Naomi Osaka's game and frequent extended absences.

The former captain of the US Davis Cup team thinks although the Japanese star has God-given talent for the sport, she "is not Serena Williams".

"Naomi is not Serena. She (Williams) is one of a kind with a unique ability, and the confidence to do it." - McEnroe told tennis.com.

Since she went public with her struggle with anxiety and depression at the 2021 French Open, Osaka hasn't played as much.

Naomi recently shared the news of being pregnant and expects to return to tennis in 2024. The fans would be eager to watch her play again next year.
