The Colorado police are currently investigating Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant after he posted an Instagram Live video over the weekend that looked to show him holding a pistol inside a nightclub.

Morant was suspended for two games, missing the Memphis Grizzlies' losses to the LA Clippers and LA Lakers. Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins is still unsure of his return date.

In a recent broadcast of the NBA on TNT, Los Angeles Lakers icon Shaquille O'Neal shared his thoughts on the matter and labeled it a "bad choice".

"It was a bad choice," O'Neal said. "It was a bad decision. There's no excuse for what he did. You got to have enough common sense to know that wasn't going to go the way you wanted it to go. You're not a rapper, you're an NBA player."

Afterwards, O'Neal went on to give Morant some advice and asked him to "think of the higher power" before making a dumb decision.

"Think of the higher power," O'Neal said. "I feel for him now, but I also feel for his mother and father. What are they going through?

He continued "So guys, before you make a dumb decision, not a mistake, a dumb decision, a dumb choice, think of the higher power, your mother, your father, your children."

Morant was initially expected to receive a 50-game ban for breaking the CBA's restriction on carrying guns on club facilities. Later, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the length of the ban would be decided by the league office.
