Soccer players, particularly the more successful ones, have a strong online presence. Social media gives soccer players a platform to interact with their fans and promote for sponsors.

The wide coverage of soccer, interviews, and news updates on websites, blogs, and forums further boosts their appeal. In 2023, Ronaldo surpassed Messi as the most Googled football player.

Perhaps the greatest soccer player of all time is Lionel Messi. He led Argentina to World Cup victory, was awarded the Golden Ball for being the greatest player, and has 7 Ballon d'Or awards.

Messi, who is presently playing for PSG, has been in outstanding form for his team this year and scored his 1000th goal. This year, 13.2 million people have Googled him.

The current season has seen a lot of coverage of Cristiano Ronaldo in the media. In November, his heated conversation with Piers Morgan went viral, mostly for bad purposes.

In an interview, Ronaldo insulted Erik ten Hag, the head coach of his former team, Manchester United, as well as his teammates. He later quit Manchester United.

His future was in talks at that time. Shortly after, Ronaldo signed with Al-Nassr. Since the beginning of the year, with 17.4 million searches, he has been the most Googled soccer player.

He even sent a planeload of care items to boost the aid effort after recent earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, which became another significant reason for his Google search.
