Rafael Nadal Never Cared About Roger Federer's $500 Million Fortune

During their intense competition on the court, tennis legends Federer and Nadal rose to the position as two of the most marketable athletes of their time.

Throughout his illustrious career, Roger Federer was a more lucrative prospect for sponsors than his great adversary Rafael Nadal due to his obvious willingness to be "marketed."

Rafael Nadal won 22 Grand Slam titles, while Roger Federer won 20. If Nadal overcomes his aging body to win his 23rd major at Roland Garros in June, that number might rise.

While Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal boasts two more Grand Slam titles than Roger Federer, the now-retired Swiss legend would always rake in higher sums of sponsorship money.

Since the beginning of his career, Nadal has had Nike as his apparel sponsor. In contrast, Federer parted ways with what is arguably the most recognizable name in sports in 2018 to strike a massive contract with the Japanese retailer Uniqlo.

At the age of 36, Nadal is currently serving his way on court at Wimbledon. He's one title away from becoming the first player in more than 50 years to have a calendar grand slam—all four major championship titles at once.

Behind Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal is third on the list of tennis players with the highest sponsorship money. Roger came in second among all athletes in sponsorship revenue.

"He never cared about Roger's Millions of fortune. He has no desire in competing with Federer for big commercial deals off the court because his primary focus was on winning on it." said Nakajima, former Nike tennis director.
