In the modern day, clubs like Manchester United and PSG are counted among the elite ones mainly because of their net worth; however, they haven't been very successful in European competitions.
It all started when fans and some players started to voice their opinions on the Glazer family, accusing them of being more money-minded and ignorant towards the club's actual needs.

Man United fans were on cloud seven as they sensed a glimmer of hope that their club will now have strong financial backing, which will attract big players.
However, it now seems that QSI has backed out of the bidding race after a warning from UEFA in regard to the club's participation in the Champions League.
Because of the "Integrity of the UEFA Club Competitions: Independence of Clubs" rule, two clubs with the same owners can't participate together in the same Champions League, and that is the main reason QSI can't buy Manchester United.
