Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgios, popularly known as Nick Kyrgios is currently the No.1 Australian tennis player. Kyrgios achieved an ATP singles ranking of No. 13, which was his career best.

Kyrgios recently withdrew from the 2023 Australian Open citing a knee injury as the reason behind his discontinuation.

The news was shocking and disheartening for his home supporters as the nation was dreaming of a native winning the Major championship after 47 years.

The Australian star's withdrawal from the tournament left his girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, feeling "devastated." However, she feels the decision was necessary to do the right thing for his body.

Hatzi shared a story on Instagram to convey her regret at the tragic news. "Devastated. Needs to do what is right for his body"- she wrote.

Nick also expressed his frustration through his Instagram post. He wrote- "man……. this one hurts, to all my fans, I will be back stronger."

However, Kyrgios took some inspiration from his doubles partner. He said- "Injury is a part of the sport. I guess I can draw some inspiration from someone like Thanasi [Kokkinakis] who has had a bunch of injuries and has bounced back,"

Nick Kyrgios was supposed to face World No. 97 Roman Safiullin in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday.
