Mind Boggling Ticket Prices for LeBron James’ Historic Match

LeBron James is just 36 points away from overtaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA all-time scoring record.

Kareem has held the points record for nearly 39 years, with the Lakers great overtaking Wilt Chamberlain on April 5, 1984—before James was even born.

James could surpass the record of 38,387 points either on Tuesday, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, or Thursday, against the Milwaukee Bucks.

As expected, ticket prices for those games have increased substantially. Tickets for that game start at $284, 50% higher than the team's season average. The most expensive tickets on the market are going from $40,000 up to $70,000.

Regardless of the price, fans are still buying up the tickets with the hope of witnessing history or selling them for a serious profit.

Prices are higher still for Thursday's home game against the Milwaukee Bucks, indicating that people believe James will need two games to reach the mark.

According to James, beating Abdul-Jabbar's record would be  comparable to breaking the baseball home run record. "I think it's up there with the home run record in baseball. It's one of those records that you just don't ever see or think that would be broken," James said.

James is averaging 30.0 points per game, so it's likely that LeBron will surpass Kareem against OKC on Wednesday, which could be one of the most historic games of all time.
