It’s difficult to pick up the top 5 players of all time because there have been so many great players who have made a strong impact.

When Jordan was asked about his top 5 all-time players more than a decade ago, he was also in a similar situation. Jackie MacMullan, the author of the book titled "When the Game Was Ours" posed the question to Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan chose Larry Bird over LeBron James as one of his top 5 all-time players. LeBron James was still playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the time and won his first MVP award when Jordan was asked the question.

This became a topic of discussion as many didn't agree to his opinion. However, Jordan gave his valid reasons during that time.

He said "Larry was a debate. He still is," "People ask me all the time who my all-time five top players are, and when I start saying Larry, they interrupt me. They say, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. He can’t play with LeBron James!’

He added, "I tell them, ‘You guys don’t get it. Larry is far better than any small forward who played the game and to be honest, I’m still not sure if he is a small forward or a power forward.

However, today LeBron has surpassed all his tough competitors and achieved great accomplishments. He is at present a 4-time champion, 18-time NBA All-Star, and 4-time MVP achiever.

James has become a record-breaker as well as a winner, altering others’ opinions about him. Nonetheless, Larry Bird has also won many awards and is also considered a better rebounder than James.
