It's not unusual for famous athletes to become Hollywood actors. Many break out of their shells and try acting. Some opt for cameo roles, while others look for full-time careers as movie stars.
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor will star in Doug Liman's adaptation of "Road House." Dwayne Johnson, Ronda Rousey, John Cena, and Dave Bautista are some successful athletes-turned-actors.
Before the 2023 Academy Awards, people were encouraged to vote for the athlete who performed outstandingly as an actor in order to recognize the stars for their hard work.
ESPN asked its followers to vote for their favorite athlete from a list of 10. Bautista and Rousey were significant additions to the list for their roles in "Fast 7" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Serena Williams' acting abilities, unfortunately, fell short of winning the fans' hearts. Bautista won the majority of the crowd's support compared to fans rooting for "Rowdy."
One fan commented, “If you say anyone besides Dave Bautista you might as well stop watching movies in general,” and another said, “Bautista by far!”
After his retirement, one of the fans noted that Bautista can no longer be categorized as a wrestler because of his increased fame as an actor: "Batista is no longer even acknowledged as a wrestler."
Another supporter criticised the list for disrespecting Shaquille O'Neal and John Cena by cutting them off. "The Disrespect to Shaq and John Cena."
